This project will convert 10.2 miles of existing two lane highway on SR 25 from San Felipe Rd in San Benito County to Bloomfield Ave in Santa Clara County.

The project was initiated by the Council of San Benito County Governments (SBCOG) in coordination with the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA).

Project Objectives

Create Four Lanes
Improve safety by upgrading the highway with four travel lanes

Shorten Commute
Reduce the time it takes to travel between Hollister and southern Santa Clara County

Reduce Traffic
Improve traffic operations at intersections with reduced access points

Build Interchange
Enhance safety at the Highway 25/Highway 156 intersection by constructing a new interchange

More Connections
Enhance connections available on public transit, promote rideshare options, and offer alternatives to driving alone

In 2018, San Benito County voters approved Measure G – a one cent sales tax for improving transportation throughout the entire region. The approved measure commits up to 50% of the tax revenues to Highway 25. Measure G established an Oversight Committee to oversee the use of measure funds. The Oversight Committee is composed of residents that represent the geographical, social, cultural, and economic diversity of the community. About COG
The Council of San Benito County Governments (COG) addresses regional transportation needs in San Benito County. COG provides a public forum for discussion at its monthly meetings and through public participation opportunities in all of its planning efforts. The COG Board of Directors are elected officials appointed from the Hollister City Council, County Board of Supervisors, and San Juan Bautista City Council.
